Some recommend breast feeding for at least 12 months and some can go on for few years, but ultimately it depends on you. Nevertheless, statistics have shown that not only this benefits the baby, but breastfeeding also boost the health of mothers. Indirectly, it benefits your employer too. Preparation to breastfeed while working

  1. Discuss your plan with your employer if the organization does not openly supports it. Some organizations that support this provides a dedicated and comfortable room for pumping and refrigerator or freezer to store milk. Otherwise, speak to your employer.
  2. Arranging for childcare. Getting a child care is a challenge, and more so a trusted one. Speak to them on your plans to continue feeding with breast milk. Family members are always happy to lend a hand.
  3. Find a support group. The Breastfeeding Advocates Network a.k.a. TBAN is no stranger to breastfeeding mothers in Malaysia. If you are facing any difficulties, just voice out. There is always someone willing to help or support you.
  4. Invest in a good breast pump. A good breast pump goes a long way. A comfortable breast pump is key to success in pumping.
  5. If all else fails, try an alternative. See if you can arrange to work from home, or changing to a part-time job.

Tips to Calm a Fussy Baby

Ever had a fussy day? Your baby does get fussy too, it is normal. If you ever have trouble with your fussy baby, do try out some of our tips.

  1. Some believe that babies tummy do get airy or "berangin". Whether you believe or not, tummy massages works for some babies. Just rub the tummy lightly or move your hands in a circular motion around the tummy until your baby gets quiet.
  2. We all love to be in motion do we? Often find yourself dozing off in car rides? Well you guess it right, your baby loves it too! You will often be surprised how easily your baby falls asleep while you drive along.
  3. The oldest trick in the book, a favorite among the previous generation. Similar to a ride in the car, the baby swing gets your baby calm and comfy yet still being very economical.
  4. Nothing annoys a baby more than a gassy feeling yet helpless to do anything about it.  Don't forget to burp your baby, don't let others remind you!
  5. If you had a long day and think you cannot take it anymore, do get yourself a nice bath or do anything to calm yourself down before handling your little one. Your baby are in better hands of a calmer mind!
  6. Does your baby likes a particular toy very much? Perhaps it is a soft toy, maybe just a plastic container, or that warm plush. Whatever it is, you could use that to calm your baby down.
